The 12th Annual Fall River County History Conference will be Saturday, January 21, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mueller Civic Center in Hot Springs.

Pre-registration is $30, at the door $40. Lunch will be provided. The Fall River Historical Society annual meeting will follow the morning sessions. Membership is not required to attend the morning sessions.

Register by mailing payment to the Pioneer Museum, P.O. Box 361, Hot Springs, SD 57747 or you may register with Olivia at the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce office located at the Mueller Civic Center prior to the event.

The conference is a fundraiser for the Pioneer Museum.

Beat the winter blues and Escape to the Park!  Custer State Park will be hosting the Black Hills Ukulele Orchestra, Saturday, January 21, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Visitor Center located at the intersection of Hwy 16A and Wildlife Loop Road.  The orchestra will play a selection of popular music and end the program with an open invitation to audience members to try their hand at the ukulele.  The Black Hills Ukulele Orchestra is a program of the non-profit Custer Area Arts Council.

 

A park entrance license is required to enter the park and can be purchased at the Park Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the week, or at the Visitor Center open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

American Legion Post 303's Auxiliary will host their 3rd Annual "Where's the Beef" Mardi Gras meal on Friday, February 17, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the new American Legion Post, 303 E. Hwy. 40, Hermosa.

The meal includes BBQ beef sandwiches, homemade potato salad, baked beans, chips and dessert.

A free-will donation will be accepted for the meal.

Activities for the evening include the crowning of the new king and queen, a bake sale and bingo beginning at 7 p.m.
